Comptroller Schaefer Announces “RAD” Milestone 1 Millionth Tax Refund Issued to iFiler

Revenue Administration Division Ahead of Last Year’s Pace

ANNAPOLIS, MD (March 20, 2006) ÿ Maryland Comptroller William Donald Schaefer today announced that his Revenue Administration Division (RAD) has issued its 1 millionth personal income tax refund on March 18 to a taxpayer who iFiled their 2005 state tax return. The taxpayer requested the refund be directly deposited and, as a result, has already received the refund in their account. This year’s 1 millionth milestone beats 2005’s mark by six days, issued Thursday, March 24, 2005.

“This is another success of more people filing electronically,” said Comptroller Schaefer. “Go to my Web site and iFile. It’s safe, it’s fast and it’s free.”

A total of 72,465 returns have been submitted by iFile this year, 20 percent more than last year’s total through March 20, 2005.
